SEND Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (SEMH) Chesterfield - Full-time position £400-£600 per week (dependent on experience) Immediate start until end of academic year (July 2025) About the role We are currently seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with a Year 6 student who has Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time position starting immediately and running until the end of the current academic year. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll provide consistent, tailored support to help this student navigate their final year of primary education, developing strategies to manage emotions and behaviors while supporting their academic progress. Key Responsibilities Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a Year 6 student with SEMH needs Implement behavior management strategies and support plans Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCO to ensure consistent approaches Help the student develop self-regulation techniques and coping strategies Support academic progress across the curriculum Maintain appropriate records and contribute to review meetings Assist with transitions and preparing for secondary school Person Specification Experience working with SEMH students is beneficial, but we are primarily looking for an individual who is: Patient, empathetic and resilient Consistent in their approach to behavior management Passionate about making a difference in children's lives Able to build positive, trusting relationships Flexible and adaptable to changing needs We don't require specific qualifications as we provide full training through Connex Academy.
