An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board for a Band 5 Occupational Health Screening Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team.
We are seeking an RGN qualified individual interested in developing their skills and gaining experience within the occupational health specialty.
You will have excellent communication skills, be IT literate with a flexible, proactive approach to service delivery, and be able to work clinically in an autonomous manner.
The main purpose of the role is to administer work-related vaccines and flu vaccines, provide advice, and where appropriate, onward referral for staff who have sustained a needle stick/contamination incident, as well as conducting skin assessments with onward referral to specialists where appropriate.
You must have proven clinical skills alongside strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Working patterns are mainly Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
The Occupational Health service works to promote good health, safety, and welfare in work, collaboratively facilitating the right support, at the right time in the right way. The main purpose of the role includes:
1. Administering work-related vaccines and flu vaccines safely as per written instructions/Patient Group Directives (PGDs).
2. Providing advice and, where appropriate, onward referral for staff who have sustained a needle stick/contamination incident. Advising the employee of follow-up as necessary and ensuring compliance with the CTUMHB Needlestick policy.
The post holder is guided by clearly defined protocols and legislation and contacts more senior colleagues for complex situations. The post holder is required to be accountable for their own actions, to use their own initiative, and act independently with discretion. Their workload is managed rather than supervised, and they act independently while undertaking clinical duties. They may be responsible for supervising OH nurse students.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Evidence of professional development and willingness to acquire qualifications relevant to OH
* Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures
* Professional awareness and ongoing professional development
* Good knowledge base of clinical conditions
* Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH or IOSH) Health Promotion, infection control qualifications
* Member of specialist interest groups and networks locally and nationally
Experience
* Sufficient experience working within the NHS
* Experience of applying health & wellbeing advice
* Experience of giving vaccinations as a community or practice-based nurse.
