Field Service Engineer
Location: Oxford
Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per year + Overtime

Our client supplies a diverse range of environmental simulation solutions, including test chambers for temperature and climatic testing, corrosion, environmental stress screening, and pharmaceutical stability. Their products serve industries such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, defense, and research. Due to ongoing growth, they are looking to expand their team of Field Service Engineers across the UK.
Job Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of state-of-the-art environmental testing equipment, including refrigeration, electrical, and humidity systems. You will be working at customer sites in the Oxfordshire region to ensure their equipment is running optimally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preventative & Scheduled Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance on refrigeration, electrical, and humidity systems.
2. Calibration & Validation: Perform annual calibration, re-qualification, and validation of equipment.
3. Repairs & Upgrades: Conduct repairs, upgrades, and retrofits to a variety of systems, including refrigeration, electrical, humidity, and software.
4. Customer Support: Advise clients on the condition of their equipment and provide recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
5. Installation Projects: Assist in project installations both in the UK and internationally as required.
6. Travel: Regular travel to customer locations across the UK.
7. Reporting: Daily reporting to the office on job status, progress, and customer feedback.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a proactive, skilled engineer who is passionate about modern manufacturing and committed to providing excellent customer service. The successful candidate will:
1. Be able to work independently, managing time effectively and solving problems on-site.
2. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach to work.
3. Be willing to travel and occasionally stay away from home as required.
Required Qualifications:
1. Engineering Qualification: Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background.
2. City & Guilds 17th Edition Electrical Installations.
3. City & Guilds F Gas & ODS Regs 2079.
Experience:
1. Previous experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within environmental testing or similar industries.
2. Knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
3. Familiarity with electronic controls and controllers (training will be provided).
4. Understanding of refrigeration circuits, including various refrigerants and ideally cascade refrigeration.
5. Experience with pipework, brazing, and silver soldering.
6. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and out-of-hours when required.
Additional Information:
1. Full-time, Permanent role with a salary range of £38,000 - £40,000 per year.
2. Overtime opportunities are available.
3. The role involves extensive travel, so a valid UK driving license is essential.
