Due to our continued growth, we are looking for exceptional L2 Support Engineers with strong Linux skills to join our technical operations team in Bath.

LOCATION: Bath, GBR
This is a shift-based role, which will join our 24 x 7 shift pattern – “4 on 4 off”.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Answering emails, calls, and online chat in a positive and friendly manner.
2. Creating a record of each customer problem and spotting trends when applicable.
3. Delivering technical IT support as required to our diverse client base.
4. Monitoring live customers SDS software and infrastructure, troubleshooting issues and escalating issues to the Zynstra Operations Team.
5. Management of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
6. Assisting our partners and customers with deploying the SDS software.
7. Patching and updating the operating systems and SDS software on SDS Appliances.
8. Fulfilling IT maintenance tasks scheduled by other team members.
9. Promoting and providing support for new products and technologies.
10. Managing corporate IT desktop and laptops.
11. Onboarding new employees: laptop setup, account creation, and new user orientation.
12. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of our products, technologies, and our competitors.
13. Maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
1. The candidate should have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in an IT Operational support role working with Linux operating systems.
2. Good understanding of core internet technologies – Routing/Switching, DNS, DHCP, firewalls.
3. Experience working in a customer-facing technical role which requires solid technical aptitude, excellent written and oral communications skills, and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels and in different situations.
4. Strong analytical skills with proven problem-solving ability.
5. Demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology.
Desirable experience with these technologies:
1. CheckMK
2. Apache
3. CouchDB
4. Windows operating systems
5. Resilient and redundant file systems (ideally ZFS and DRBD, alternatively advanced knowledge of similar such as btrfs, LVM, RAID, CEPH, clustering solutions etc).
6. Shell scripting (ideally BASH, or Python, Perl, Ruby, Powershell etc).
