As Metreel look to develop their market presence, we are recruiting a Design Engineer who will join the Design Team and work at their site in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
Your main focus will be to deliver designs for both bespoke solutions and development of standard products. You will be exposed to the latest CAD and FEA packages. You will be expected to have knowledge of extensive manufacturing and assembly processes and apply this into your designs.
The right candidate must be forward thinking and be prepared to take the initiative. In this role you need to be prepared to challenge all fixed ideas and to find a better way.

Essential Skills
* You will be technically minded have GCSE grade 6(B) at maths and science.
* Ideally an A Level in either Design and/or Engineering grade C or above.
* A foundation degree, HNC/HND or degree in an engineering subject.
* Proficient with Solidworks and 2D AutoCAD.
* Competent with Word and Excel.
* Computer literacy.
* The ability to communicate tactfully and clearly.
* Ability to prioritise heavy and variable workload.
* Professional attitude to all aspects of work and customer care.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the mechanical engineering design of bespoke products visiting customer sites as and when required, ensuring all work is carried out both accurately and efficiently and in line with industry standards.
Duties
* To carry out mechanical engineering design of bespoke products.
* To visit customer sites as and when required.
* To hold a full UK driving licence.
* To hold a valid passport.
* To ensure that office routines are dealt with effectively and kept up to date.
* Ensure customer complaints are handled according to Company policy.
* To develop and maintain knowledge and work within Company policies, practices, systems, procedures and product knowledge.
* To communicate in person and on the telephone with colleagues, customers, suppliers and other visitors in a friendly and positive manner.
* To work as part of a team representing the interest of the business.
* To promote the business in a friendly and positive light at all times.
* Liaise with all departments in the Company, Agents, Suppliers and Customers.
* To undertake such staff training and development, which may from time to time be required.
* To work in accordance with Health and Safety and Hygiene regulations and to report all accidents.
* To carry out any other such duties commensurate with the nature of the post and which may be required from time to time.
