Overview:
The Head of Ecommerce is accountable for the development and growth of thepaintshed.com. This is a key management role that combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to drive profitable growth, improve the customer journey, and enhance operational performance. The Head of Ecommerce leads a high-performing team across ecommerce, digital marketing, customer service and ecommerce operations.
The role:
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially-minded Head of Ecommerce to lead our end-to-end ecommerce function. We're looking for an experienced senior manager who prides themselves on their data-driven approach and who works collaboratively to identify and execute commercial opportunities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategy & Leadership
· Own and drive the overarching TPS ecommerce strategy to meet acquisition, conversion and revenue targets.
· Own the channel end-to-end, from customer acquisition through to post-purchase customer service.
· Own the ecommerce budgeting and forecasting process, and the overall ecommerce P&L
· Manage and develop a high-performing team including ecommerce, digital marketing and digital operations.
· Collaborate with leadership team to align ecommerce goals with broader business objectives.
· Collaborate with senior management team on all omnichannel initiatives.
Customer Acquisition & Trading
· Develop trading and promotional strategies to drive traffic and revenue growth.
· Oversee digital merchandising and content execution to support trading priorities.
· Oversee performance marketing (PPC, SEO, paid social, email, affiliate, etc.) with a clear ROI focus.
· Work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to ensure optimal marketing channel mix and budget allocation, alongside agency management.
· Create and lead the development of a marketplace strategy and execution roadmap across Amazon, eBay etc.
On-site Experience & Technology
· Own the website development roadmap, working with external development agency to prioritise features and enhancements that drive customer and commercial value.
· Oversee on-site experience including UX/UI improvements, CRO initiatives, and A/B testing strategies.
· Own ecommerce platforms and technologies including integrations with supporting business systems.
Operations & Customer Service
· Work collaboratively with operations teams on order management, fulfilment, shipping logistics, and returns processes.
· Champion operational efficiency and scalability as the business grows.
· Oversee the development of a best-in-class customer-service function and service proposition, working closely with the Digital Operations Manager.
Data & Reporting
· Deliver regular performance reports and actionable insights to stakeholders.
· Use data-driven insights to inform decisions and test strategies.
Experience required:
· Experience in a senior ecommerce management role, ideally within a growing SME or fast-paced retail/consumer brand. B2C merchant experience preferred.
· Demonstrable success in driving revenue growth and customer acquisition online, ideally in an omni-channel environment.
· Proven experience leading teams across ecommerce, digital marketing, and customer service.
· Proven experience managing an ecommerce P&L, and budgeting and forecasting processes.
· Deep understanding of performance marketing channels and digital acquisition strategies.
· Experience creating and executing marketplace strategies.
· Hands-on experience with ecommerce platforms (Magento) and analytics tools (GA4).
· Strong commercial acumen and data-driven decision-making.
· A customer-focussed mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
· A team-player who is self-starting, enthusiastic and hardworking, with excellent attention-to-detail, a hands-on approach and exceptional organisational and project management skills.
Work from home. Role to be based in Scotland with ability to travel to stores, warehouses and team meetings when required.
