We have a rare opportunity for a Construction Management Graduate Trainee to gain valuable experience working with us on a Fixed-Term Contract at our Wallyford project in Edinburgh. About the role This is a fixed-term contract role, as a Construction Management Graduate Trainee. The Graduate Trainee will play a key role in assisting and shadowing the Site Management team to safely deliver social housing and construction developments, uphold strict quality control measures, and ensure compliance with; HSE requirements, Client/Design Team standards, budgets and details as set out in partnership with the commercial team. Comply with all Group procedures and external regulations and carry out site management tasks as delegated by the Site Management team. Key roles and responsibilities include. Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Undertake the supervising of direct labour and subcontractors. Check drawings and quantities. Assist in scheduling of materials. Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations to meet an agreed programme of deadlines. Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary. Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained. Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise. Arrange testing of materials. Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used. Keep a Site Diary. Fully interact with other members of the construction site team (team player). Liaise with other function/departmental managers. Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate to areas of responsibility. Other duties as required by the Site Manager to facilitate construction of the works. Your Skills and Experience This role is ideally suited for someone pursuing a degree in Construction Management. It is particularly fitting for third or fourth-year students who are looking to enhance their practical knowledge and experience in the construction industry while continuing their studies. The ideal candidate will be/have. Currently studying for a degree in Construction Management or HND in Construction Management. Previous relevant industry experience. Proficient IT user including standard packages such as Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective time management skills. Clear and effective communicator, in-person, via email and in meetings. Able to set clear objectives for themselves. Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices. Understanding of H&S requirements and ability to fulfil these. Have a Valid CSCS card (SSSTS/SMSTS desirable but not essential) Hold a current and valid UK driving licence (beneficial but not essential). Willing to undertake all relevant training as required by this role. First Aid at Work (desirable, training provided as needed).
