Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse to join our established Parkinson's disease team in East Kent, the Neurology clinical leadership team on the wards, clinics, and community, to deliver excellent patient care and be part of a dynamic, flexible, supportive, and forward-thinking Neurology workforce.
For this post, we require your enthusiasm, motivation, and passion to help deliver a patient-focused service which is based on evidence with the patient at the core of every aspect of their own pathway. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the visions and values of our specialty and the Trust. They will not only work autonomously, managing their own caseload, but work as a team member ensuring timely communication and collaborative working across many services. Do you have those skills? The practitioner must work competently at an enhanced practice level providing care aligned to the four pillars of advanced practice. It is envisaged that 70% of this role will be spent working in the clinical area, as part of an agreed job plan.

This post will be offered subject to the completion of the PD UK induction programme and internal EKHUFT PD competencies.
As a Trainee Band 7, you will progress through the Trainee Band 7 increments annually according to the table below:

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will work at an enhanced level of practice utilising highly developed postgraduate experience, knowledge, and skills in the Neurology specialty. They will manage discrete aspects of a patient's care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, within their current level of practice and patient group, aligned to the four pillars of practice to improve the quality of care to patients.
The trainee clinical Nurse specialist will provide specialist advice using clinical reasoning and accountable decision-making as a practitioner with enhanced practice skills and knowledge which promotes evidence-based clinical practice after completing formal six-month competencies and PD UK training program.
Records objective and accurate patient information utilising paper records and electronic systems appropriately and in accordance with Trust record-keeping and information governance policies.
Deliver clinical care/therapeutic interventions in the context of change within a complex healthcare environment, utilising specialist pathways for safe and effective care for patients.
Actively involves patients and carers in their treatment and encourages/empowers others enabling individuals to manage their own care and recovery.
Liaises and collaborates with members of the multi-professional/multi-disciplinary team (MDT) both within the organisation and with external stakeholders as appropriate.
