Category Manager
Location: Cannock

My prestigious, family-owned client is looking to recruit a Category Manager to join its well-established but growing team.
Reporting to the procurement manager, the purpose of this role is to manage the supply and stock at the best cost pricing.
Essential Skills and Experience
1. Proficiency in utilising Microsoft Office Suite, category management tools and software for data analysis and reporting.
2. Flexibility to adapt to the changing market dynamics, consumer preferences and organisational priorities.
3. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
5. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
7. Knowledge of inventory management and demand forecasting techniques.
8. Understanding of pricing strategies, margin analysis and profitability optimisation.
9. Experience in vendor management and negotiations.
10. Ability to conduct market research and consumer surveys.
Key Responsibilities
1. Developing and executing strategic plans for the assigned product category to drive sales and profitability.
2. Analysing market trends, consumer behaviour and competitor activities in order to identify growth opportunities and market gaps.
3. Managing product assortment, pricing, promotions and inventory to optimise category performance.
4. Developing solid relationships with key suppliers to improve category offerings and negotiate favourable terms.
5. Securing best pricing from suppliers and preparing and completing competitive quotations for the sales team.
6. Placing daily purchase orders on time for stock and non-stock items.
7. Checking purchase orders are on schedule and deliveries are booked in.
8. Managing the MRP system for your category to ensure stock products are in stock to fulfil customer's demand.
9. Maintaining tight control of buying prices and constantly looking at ways to reduce cost prices.
