A great opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy in Leamington Spa. This is a chance to join an established company with over 45 years' experience in the industry.
They are a business large enough to have an established structure and support base, but still small enough for an ambitious individual to make a real impact on the team.
In summary, your role will involve delivering the Civil Engineering aspects of Appraisal, Planning, and Detail Design of projects for housing, commercial, and industrial developments.
You will also be responsible for pre-purchase feasibility studies and resolution planning of conditions including drainage feasibility and highways considerations. Flood risk assessments, detailed drawings, and calculations to technical approval for adoptable highways and drainage. Preparing 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, and vertical road profiles.
As a more senior member of the team, you will be expected to mentor the Graduates and help them develop their career while also carrying out your duties as a Civil Engineer.
Main Duties:
1. Pre-purchase feasibility studies and resolution of planning conditions including drainage feasibility and highways considerations.
2. Flood risk assessments (flood modelling undertaken by in-house team).
3. Detailed drawings and calculations to technical approval for adoptable highways and drainage to Building Control, NHBC, S278, S38, S104, etc.
4. Preparation of 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, vertical road profiles, etc.
5. Liaise with clients and external agencies i.e. Environment Agency, Local Highway Authorities, Water Authorities, etc.
Training & Development:
You will be encouraged and given opportunities to work towards a professional qualification commensurate with your academic qualifications. Your development will be set out in a career development plan agreed with your director and actioned through our structured appraisal process.
Education & Learning Experience:
Relevant experience and degree in an appropriate 'built environment' discipline and working towards membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or similar learned society/professional body. However, applicants with HND/C or significant relevant experience are also welcomed.
Technical Skills:
* Working experience of FRAs, Suds, and Pre-Planning Advice.
* Working experience of drainage and highway design and detailing to S38, S278, and S104 agreements.
* Working experience of MicroDrainage WinDES, Tuflow (optional), HECRAS (optional).
* Use of AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D preferred but not essential.
* Working appreciation of highway and general structures.
* Use of Microsoft Office software packages i.e. Excel, Word, etc.
