Role Overview
At ATS, our Industrial IT Architects play a crucial role in delivering complex IT projects for customers within the Aerospace and Defence manufacturing industry. You will take ownership of the technical scope across multiple projects and manage it throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical documentation aligned with customers’ technical governance and assurance criteria, ensuring seamless integration for project success.

How You Will Make an Impact
Technical Leadership:
1. Lead the technical aspects of manufacturing IT projects, aligning with business objectives and customer technical standards.
2. Oversee the project’s technical scope, guiding project management teams for effective planning and execution.
3. Identify, capture, and mitigate project risks and issues.
4. Host workshops and meetings to facilitate collaboration among technical delivery teams.
Documentation and Design:
5. Produce high-quality technical documentation and review constituent design documentation, ensuring overall solution design integrity.
6. Engage with Operational Technology OEMs for integrating manufacturing equipment with enterprise IT applications and networks.
7. Collaborate with pre-delivery and proposals teams to develop robust, commercially viable responses to customer requests for quotations..
Mentorship and Development:
8. Inspire and mentor our team of Industrial IT Engineers, providing guidance and opportunities for professional growth to ensure they stay motivated and continuously enhance their skills.

What You Will Bring to The Team
24. Proven experience in technically delivering IT projects.
25. Proven knowledge and ability to work with various IT disciplines, including networking, security, servers, infrastructure, virtualisation, application development, and cloud offerings.
26. Ability to support Industrial IT Engineers with the delivery of complex industrial IT solutions in manufacturing environments.
27. Working knowledge of Enterprise IT systems and associated service and project delivery frameworks (e.g., ITIL, PRINCEII, TOGAF).
28. Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication at all levels.
29. Articulate in written and spoken language at technical, logical, and business levels.
30. Experience in understanding business requirements to produce quotes for large-scale projects.
31. The ability to obtain Security Clearance to work at a UK MOD accredited manufacturing facility.
32. A willingness to work on-site at customers’ manufacturing facilities across the UK and occasionally overseas.
33. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
Nice to Have
34. Understanding of OT (Operational Technologies) such as PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and associated data transport protocols like OPC UA, OPC DA, MTConnect, Profinet, and Profibus.
35. Understanding of ISA-95 and its application to the “Purdue Model”.
