Job Description: Lead Policy Developer
Responsible to: Director of People
Accountable to: Head of People Services
Relationships: To establish and maintain good working relationships with the Chief Executive, Directors and Operational and Corporate Heads of Service
Main purpose of the role:
The successful post-holder will be a creative thinker, with strong analytical, written and verbal communications skills. An enthusiastic, adaptive and flexible approach is important, together with an ability to work flexibly across teams.
* Influencing policy and frameworks with Operations, People Services, Estates and Finance ensuring that policies are evidence-based.
* Develop Autism Togethers position on key aspects of regulatory policy and practice by managing a range of policies including Operational, People Services, Estates and Finance.
* To work through complex issues and use critical thinking skills to find solutions.
* Draft changes in policy to the Executive Team on matters related to health and social care professional regulation and other regulatory policy and practice that effects Autism Together.
* Manage and support the delivery of specific policy and practice programmes projects relating to key priorities for all departments across the Charity.
* Keep abreast of developments in professional regulation in UK to upkeep policy development across the Charity.
* Maintain and keep the Chief Executive and Executive Directors well informed about significant issues and developments in health, care and regulation and possible impacts on policy development.
* Develop and implement ways to support and encourage implementation of policy and regulations into the Charity, maintaining standards of business and professional regulation.
* Identify contentious or sensitive issues and work with the Head of People, Chief Executive and Directors to manage them effectively and protect the reputation of the Charity with proactive development of policy in line with regulations.
* Strong communication skills, ability to adapt style to different audiences to ensure maximum impact.
* Providing advice, and explanations of complex concepts orally and in writing to a range of audiences, in a clear and factual way.
* Ability to manage complex projects and pieces of work.
* Lead programme governance including, delivery risks and quality assurance.
* Establish relationships with other stakeholders within the Charity that help inform and promote our policy and recommendations on regulation.
* Manage a portfolio of policy and research for Autism Together.
* To keep up to date with changing legislation that impact the Charity by researching current policy change.
* Provide policy input, support and advice to other parts of the charity, including inductions and participation in cross organisational events and working groups. Produce briefings for internal staff including the senior leadership team
* The Lead Policy Developer will also contribute to the wider work of the team, directorate and charity, including by representing the charity on cross-sector groups, drafting briefings, attending stakeholder meetings.
Information Assets and Cybersecurity As part of your role you will be responsible as an Information Asset Owner in supporting the organisation with cyber security and in its protection of its information assets.
