Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an emerging leader to fulfil the role of Band 7 ward manager for The Coleman Unit & Adult Day Surgery Unit at RNOH fast-paced unit.
As the ward manager for The Coleman Unit & Adult Day Surgery Unit, you will lead a skilled nursing team, work closely with the matron and be part of a large specialist multidisciplinary team. We have an international reputation for providing high quality care to all our patients in different specialities.
You will need initiative, energy, tenacity, imagination and empathy to fulfil this demanding role. You will be joining an experienced and committed team in an organisation intent on achieving the best staff and patient experience of any provider nationally. As a specialist centre, we ensure that all our wards have good staffing levels and our ward managers are supervisory to practice. You will be supported by the Matron, the practice education team and professional nurse advocates.

Main duties of the job
* Be responsible for the provision of clinical care and standards on the ward.
* Be responsible for coordinating and make effective use of staff, supervise staff and ensure training is maintained.
* Ensure adequate staffing levels and provide clinical leadership for staff.
* Act as a role model and leader to nursing staff.
* Ensure cost effective use of resources.
* Ensure the ward provides an effective and supportive learning environment for all learners.
* Participate in the Nursing Leadership Forum and wider professional activities across the Trust.

Qualifications Essential
* RN1, on the NMC register
* Mentorship / Teaching & assessing qualification
* Post registration course/equivalent experience: Cancer Care / Orthopaedics / Spinal Cord Injury
* Diploma / Degree

Knowledge/training/experience Essential
* Minimum of 4 years post registration experience
* Minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 6 in a relevant speciality
