A Vacancy at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will manage the operational performance of services across Care of the Elderly, Stroke and Acute Medicine at Weston General Hospital. This will be achieved by delivering challenging performance targets through effective communication and liaison with consultant, medical, nursing and administrative staff across the Trust on a day-to-day basis.
The role is dual line managed by the Site Operational Manager and Specialty Manager for Care of the Elderly and Stroke, but the successful candidate will have close working relationships with other Specialty Managers, the Patient Access Team and the Administration Team at Weston General Hospital, as well as teams at both the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital.
The post holder must be able to travel to other locations, such as the Bristol Royal Infirmary as some of the Trusts training courses and meetings are delivered at this location.
• To line manage and provide day to day supervision for administrative and clerical staff in Care of the Elderly, Stroke and Acute Medicine.
• To support the Specialty Manager to manage RTT performance and levels, including validation of pathways.
• To coordinate outpatient clinics ensuring that our clinical capacity meets patient demand, poor utilisation of clinics is escalated, and patients are booked in the correct order.
• Ensure optimum working of the teams at all times, prioritising the workload of the department in times of staff shortage.
• To understand the various clerical roles that contribute to the success of the department to provide back fill for absence of team members if necessary.
• To act as point of contact for the senior management team in reference to the day-to-day management of the admin and clerical teams in the patch.
• Ensure effective delivery of staff training/development, to enable a flexible trained workforce, to meet service delivery challenges.
• Attend and participate in various meetings within the department, Division and Trust.
• To assist the Specialty Manager in the achievement of all relevant performance targets, utilising cross divisional resources where necessary.
• To support the Specialty Manager with ward-based issues/resident doctor and consultant queries
• To support recruitment of staff including the preparation of job descriptions, personal specifications, adverts and documentation required for submission to the Divisional Pay Control Panel (PCP).
