Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Health & Safety advisor to join our team. This role will be based at our Staverton site. Job Purpose: You'll report to the H&S Manager and provide valuable expertise and advice to support our teams across the business to ensure safe production and continually improve the Occupational Health and Safety management system. You will bring your experience and ideas to participate in all H&S activities, meetings, planning groups and site visits. The role will be focusing on bringing new licenses into the business to ensure new processes and equipment are set up with all the relevant health and safety controls in place. This will involve performing a number of risk assessment activities including, but not limited to, COSHH, PUWER, ergonomics and manual handling. Developing, implementing and maintaining written policies and procedures as necessary to ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation. Helping to maintain H&S KPIs, process hazard near miss and incident reports and updating H&S records and databases as necessary. In addition, you will help with creating and reviewing mandatory training matrices for hazard- specific activities on site and support with identifying relevant training providers. You will support on-site new starter induction training by sharing responsibility of delivering the company-approved behavioural safety programme with the rest of the HS&E team. Although you'll be predominantly based at our Staverton site but there will be occasional travel to other UK sites as and when required. Please note that, due to the nature of our business, this role will require access to and working in the vicinity of a variety of chemical materials including aviation fuels, hydraulic oils, epoxy, and compressed gases. What you'll need to know As a minimum you will have a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. You’ll have previously worked in a H&S focused role with good understanding of COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and practical experience of carrying out associated assessments. Experience of working in industries involving hydraulics and electrical testing will be advantageous. The right candidate will have proven experience of talking to large groups and problem solving with tenacity and innovative solutions. Experience with common Microsoft applications is essential and experience using collaborative Microsoft 365 tools will be an advantage.
