We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Gozney. As a contract Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work closely with our Heads of Product, Engineering, and design team to develop exciting new product concepts and bring them to life for our consumers.
Your expertise in manufacturing processes will be crucial in optimizing designs for performance and manufacture. You will work closely with our supply chain to achieve high-quality standards and optimal costs. Your responsibilities will include leading new product developments through our NPL process, driving continuous product improvement and enhancement to the Gozney product range.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop manufacturable solutions from NPI team concepts.
2. Create designs and drawings for manufacture.
3. Manage costed BOMs from initial concept through to production.
4. Drive designs through the NPL process, managing design elements of projects.
5. Maintain project deliverables, costs, and times.
6. Highlight and resolve design issues, modify designs, documents, and drawings.
7. Review existing product designs, propose, implement, and monitor effectiveness of improvements.
8. Develop designs through cost-down programs to achieve target margins.
9. Create strategy for the verification of corrective designs and participate in validation & verification activities.
10. Source parts as required, manage vendor issues with our Ops team.
11. Interact with CX, marketing, and sales teams to capture user needs and look for opportunities to improve products.
12. Contribute to risk management activities, including the development of FMEA and DVP&R.
13. Perform validation & verification testing for new product concepts and designs.
14. Work closely with others in a team environment and mentor junior members.
15. Build and maintain effective working relationships with design engineers.
Requirements
We are looking for a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a comparable role, preferably within a related field, and ideally with expertise in gas products. A degree in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum classification of 2:1 is required. You should showcase excellent proficiency in 3D CAD, particularly using SolidWorks or a similar software package.
Experience with design tools like InDesign, Illustrator, and Composer is beneficial, as is knowledge of DDM and diverse manufacturing processes, including metalworking methods. Knowledge of design for injection Moulding is also advantageous.
