The post-holder is responsible and accountable for managing the day to day work of the Theatre Decontamination Unit. Ensuring that all instruments are correctly accounted for and tracked post-procedure and ensuring that all instruments are received in good and timely order from our off-site decontamination unit. To provide supervision to the Decontamination Technicians within the team and to provide support to the Theatre team.
To receive contaminated reusable medical devices (instruments) from the Theatre and ensure they are packaged ready for transport to the off-site sterilisation unit. To ensure all instruments are tracked as per national guidance To ensure all reprocessed instruments are returned from the off-site sterilisation unit and returned to the correct areas within Theatre.

Am I the right person for this TSSU Supervisor role?
1. Good command of written and spoken English
2. Previous experience in either Theatre, Decontamination or Stores
3. Full understanding of the decontamination process
4. Good computer and numeracy skills
5. Ability to lead a team
6. Good Customer Service Skills
7. Accuracy And attention to detail
8. A high level of communication skills
9. Flexibility in response to needs of the department
10. Ability to deliver a high level of customer service to Theatre staff and Consultants
What are the Responsibilities of this TSSU Supervisor role?
11. Direct Line management of Tssu Staff
12. To ensure that contaminated reusable medical devices (Instruments) are processed according to the departmental policies as well as those of the off-site decontamination unit.
13. To ensure that reusable medical devices are tracked according to national guidance.
14. To liaise with Theatre Leads to ensure that Instruments are processed in a timely manner and are available for the planned surgery.
15. To ensure that the contractual obligations of the off-site decontamination unit are met. Namely turnaround times and quality standards.
16. To Inform the Theatre Coordinator when expected turnaround times have not been achieved.
17. To ensure that all loan kits are processed and tracked according to local procedures.
18. To provide advice, training and support to the Decontamination Technicians and Theatre Scrub staff.
