Main duties of the job
As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for completing neurological assessments, treatment planning and interventions, rehabilitation to improve function and independence with ADLs, cognitive assessment/rehabilitation, using therapeutic handling skills, assessing environment and equipment needs, identifying ongoing needs whilst maximizing quality of life, liaising with community colleagues to facilitate complex discharge planning, evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans, supervising Occupational Therapy support staff and students, and implementing and developing evidence-based therapeutic activities.

Moorlands Neurological Centre is a new, innovative service providing neurobehavioral rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injury and complex needs which prevents them accessing their potential in other settings. Within Moorlands, neurobehavioural rehabilitation creates a ‘relentlessly positive’ therapeutic climate through provision of a 24/7 outcome focused programme, delivered by expert clinicians working as a transdisciplinary team.
You’ll work in partnership with residents and carers to set realistic goals and develop collaborative intervention plans, with regular reviews to monitor progress and adapt.
Working as a member of the transdisciplinary team, you’ll ensure that high quality individualised care is delivered, which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery, wellbeing, and maximising independence/quality of life.
You will be familiar with the use of outcome measures such as FIM/FAM, CRS-R, WHIM and TOMS, and have experience in managing a designated caseload using knowledge of relevant Occupational Therapy theory. You’ll also have practical experience of completing assessments, planning, implementing evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a wide variety of training courses to support you reaching your career goals.
As an Occupational Therapist you will be:

Moorlands Neurological Centre is being developed as a neuro-behavioral hospital service for men and women over the age of 18 years, who have an acquired brain injury. The service will support and care for people who, because of their injury, have challenging and complex needs that are preventing them from making further progress with their lives and require a neuro-behavioral rehabilitation programme.

Qualifications
* Registered Occupational Therapist with experience in neurological rehabilitation, skilled in using outcome measures, and knowledgeable in relevant Occupational Therapy theory and evidence-based practice.
