Douglas Stuart Ltd is looking for SHE specialists to join the team at Severfield' s Bolton site. The responsibilities of these roles range dependant on experience.
Both roles will work closely with site teams to drive safety standards, fostering a people-first safety culture, and embed real-time learning on the shop floor.
These aren't just a tick-box safety roles, we’re looking for individuals who can bring energy, expertise, and a collaborative approach to inspire positive change. Moving away from a "traditional" view on safety and incorporating more modern methods of safety, health and environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Daily SHE Oversight : Carry out inspections, audits, and ensure compliance on construction and manufacturing sites. Conduct assessments for noise, vibration, and respiratory protection in heavy engineering environments.
* Risk Management : Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating risk assessments, focusing on high-risk activities such as welding, heavy lifting, and respirable hazards.
* Incident Management : Lead and support investigations, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up to address root causes.
* Engagement & Training : Deliver toolbox talks and safety stand-downs, building safety knowledge and engagement across teams.
* Culture Building : Work collaboratively with site teams to foster a proactive, engaged safety culture that prioritises real-time learning and worker empowerment.
* Environmental Compliance : Oversee waste disposal, emissions, and spill response on-site, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and best practices.
* Change Management: Influence and guide site teams through process change.
Experience
* A background in heavy construction or manufacturing environments, ideally steel fabrication or a similar high-risk industry.
* Familiarity with manual welding, cutting, grinding, and other heavy industrial processes.
* Environmental experience, including understanding of waste transfer, spill response, hazardous waste, fumes, and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems.
