Job Summary
Clinical Support Worker/Team Secretary Band 3 - Cumberland Infirmary
Undertake relevant unsupervised laboratory duties and administrative duties in a timely and efficient manner as directed by SOPs and departmental policy, performing daily and weekly support tasks for:
* Blood Sciences Team/Support Managers
* Quality Manager
* Operational and Service Manager
Main Duties of the Job
Clinical
* Co-operate fully with the Blood Sciences Management team, to enable day-to-day departmental objectives to be achieved.
* Support with Acceptance testing of Blood Sciences reagents and consumables, under guidance of support/team manager.
* Assist Support Managers with EQA material, review and recording results.
* Review test results and respond/escalate appropriately to the results as per section guidelines.
* Undertake daily/weekly housekeeping duties as required in accordance with departmental decontamination procedures.
Administration
* Deal with telephone enquiries and emails for Blood Sciences Managers, understanding personal limitations, and redirect to others for action as appropriate.
* Operate the laboratory computer systems to input and retrieve data, ensuring accurate data input into all computerised systems.
* Provide administration support including word processing, filing, photocopying, taking and typing minutes.
* Adhere to Trust policies, including those relating to Data Protection Act, Computer Misuse Act and Copyright, Designs and Patents Act.
* Monitor stock in work area and arrange replenishment as necessary to maintain service continuity.
* Assist with ensuring the quality and regulatory standard i.e. UKAS.
Education
* Assist with delivery of training of new staff, as appropriate, to the agreed regulatory standards.
* Undertake continuing professional development, including mandatory and statutory training.
