SEO analysts, Police National Computer (PNC) and Criminal Histories Team Analysis Directorate Ministry of Justice
Overview
We have two roles in the PNC and criminal histories team, within the Analysis Directorate.
Roles are open to:
* Existing analysts from all professions (GORS/GSS/GSR/GES) either on level transfer or on promotion.
* Other candidates that are not members of GSS, GORS, GSR, GES professions but possess and can demonstrate similar experience at the appropriate level. Badging opportunities will be available once in post for those who wish to apply.
Specialist Allowance
Due to the role(s) being analytical, those successful in recruitment will be eligible for a specialist allowance following an analytical interview based on the following values:

Candidates must be able to show the relevant experience and skills and must meet the criteria for entry:
You have significant work experience evidencing use of data and/or analytical skills. Time spent on an analytical PhD can count towards this.
These roles require regular access to the MoJ extract of the Police National Computer. This is only accessible from our London HQ at 102 Petty France. This role is London based only and requires regular office attendance. To safeguard the PNC extract, the successful applicant will be required to secure Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 3 clearance, which requires continuous residency in the UK for the previous 3 years at the point of NPPV application once in post.
Interviews are likely to take place in March 2025 and will be held via MS Teams. We will keep a merit list for a year for those who successfully pass the interview board but who are not offered a post.

What You’ll Do
These roles support the team lead to deliver vital work to support policy and operational objectives, while maintaining the security and appropriate use of the police national computer data. This includes:
* Leading essential data pipeline updates and development of automated processes to ensure accurate reporting of Accredited Official Statistics and to fully maximise modern data processing techniques.
* Ensuring the delivery of high-quality routine and ad-hoc Official Accredited and Official Statistics publications, along with Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests in line with the code of practice for statistics.
* Supporting a range of ad hoc analytical and policy requests such as the sentencing review and early release of prisoners.
* Developing detailed subject knowledge to lead high-quality conversations with internal and external stakeholders.
* Applying statistical and data visualisation techniques to improve analytical outputs and convey complex ideas.
* Maintaining the security of the PNC data, internal air-gapped environment and user management.
* Oversight of the process and governance relating to internal requests for data on the MoJ analytical platform.
* Deputising, as required, for the team lead.
Who You Are
The following experience and skills will be required:
* Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical ability, with expertise in data analysis, quality assurance.
* A self-starter with strong ability to plan, prioritise and lead analytical work.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to act on own initiative.
* Experience of R and SQL coding.
The following experience and skills are desirable:
* Experience of working with Git and the Ministry of Justice Analytical Platform environment.
* Experience of working with government data, and/or with official accredited/official statistics.
* Experience of responding to PQs and FOI requests.

Selection Process
