This is an exciting opportunity for Laboratory Analysts to support our Exploration & Production team in Aberdeen covering Maternity leave. You will be reporting to the Team Leader, supporting testing and general day-to-day requirements of a working laboratory. ABOUT YOU We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Laboratory Analyst who has worked within a laboratory testing environment. You will have enthusiasm for science and wish to develop technically. The Laboratory Analyst will play an active part in ensuring the highest quality of service to clients and adherence to standards. Required skills and experience: Higher National Diploma in a related scientific subject or at least 2 years of experience working in a UKAS-accredited laboratory Can demonstrate exceptional organisational skills to ensure priorities are met and the ability to plan and organise day-to-day workload with minimal supervision Willing to be hands-on working at all levels Good time management and an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. IT literate to include a good level of skills in MS Office software Flexible approach to working hours ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Laboratory Analyst Grade 2 (Maternity Cover) will carry out analytical tasks and equipment calibrations within the service line and prepare job reporting requirements. You will lead by example, ensuring all aspects of our QHSE processes are followed and will mentor junior team members through effective guidance, training and technical support. Key activities: Perform sample analysis in accordance with both approved technical standards and client requirements as directed by senior team members Collation of the sample analysis results and preparation of final reports for proofreading and issue to clients by an appropriately authorised signatory Stock-taking and receipting of consumables for the section Perform necessary equipment maintenance to ensure they remain within acceptable operating and (where appropriate) valid calibration standards Report all technical faults and non-conformance issues to the line manager, providing technical information as required Inspire and communicate to ensure that team members work together as a cohesive team to constantly improve performance and achieve results WHAT WE OFFER Join Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
