Job overview
Are you passionate about helping people stop smoking and improve their health? Looking to gain public health experience in an NHS Trust? We’re recruiting two Advisors to join our Health Improvement Team, in collaboration with RM Partners, North West and South West London Cancer Alliance.
Your role will focus on supporting current smokers identified through the West London Lung Cancer Screening Programme. Working closely with the Health Improvement Lead and Clinical Lead, you’ll deliver tailored stop smoking advice and refer patients to local stop smoking services across North West and South West London. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work with our outpatient teams to expand support for patients attending outpatient appointments. This role centres on promoting health equity and empowering people to make informed decisions to improve their health.
Both post holders will work across our three main hospital sites; remote working on some days may be possible.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver telephone and face-to-face stop smoking advice and tailored support plans.
* Coordinate referrals to local services and ensure continuity of care.
* Provide brief interventions and advice on nicotine replacement therapy.
* Work with outpatient teams to help patients stop or reduce their tobacco use.
* Carry out assessments, including Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitoring.
* Collect and manage data on the impact of interventions.
* Promote smoke-free environments, educate individuals about the risks of smoking, and encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
* Work with stakeholders to improve services and deliver training.

Person specification
Education/ Qualifications
* GCSE (English and Maths A-C)
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent health related studies or substantial successful experience delivering stop smoking interventions/support.
Experience
* Experience of providing healthcare advice or promoting healthy lifestyle advice to patients or members of the public.
* Experience of providing help, support and/or counselling on either a one-to-one basis or as part of a group setting.
* Experience of providing smoking cessation support.
* Experience of providing health improvement advice, such as for alcohol use and weight management.
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
* Ability to adapt to change within working situation.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
* IT skills i.e. word processing, excel and power point.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality in the NHS.
