As a Grounds Maintenance Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the playing surfaces and outdoor spaces at Stirling Sports Village, with a primary focus on the upkeep of the main grass football pitch at Forthbank Stadium. Working as part of a dedicated and collaborative team, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the stadium’s grass pitch, ensuring it meets the highest standards for sporting events. Your duties will include: • Pitch and Surface Maintenance – Preparing, maintaining, and developing all grass areas and synthetic surfaces to ensure they are safe, high-quality, and competition-ready. • Health & Safety Compliance – Adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for staff, athletes, and visitors. • Supplier & Contractor Management – Identifying and managing contractors and suppliers in line with Active Stirling’s procurement processes. • General Grounds keeping – Undertaking a range of maintenance duties to support the day-to-day operations of Stirling Sports Village. Requirements
Experience & Qualifications: Essential: • Green Keeping/Ground’s maintenance experience • Line measuring and Marking Out • Experience working in a sports ground preparation environment. • Full UK Driving Licence • Ability to work effectively as a team member • Ability to work unsupervised. • Ability to work on own initiative • PA1 & PA6 Certificates in Safe use of Pesticides Desirable • (SVQ) in Sports Turf: Greenkeeping at SCQF level 5 • Certificate in Chainsaw Operations: Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-cutting, Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm • Awareness of health and safety procedures • Ability to carry out manual handling duties • Proven ability of working to a high standard • Experience of working in the sport and leisure industry • Proven problem-solving skills in a customer facing environment • Experience of working with the public and providing a high level of customer service • Experience in negotiating and purchasing supplies.
Responsibilities
You will support the Maintenance and Estates Manager with ongoing repairs and planned maintenance, ensuring our facilities remain at the highest standard. In this role, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the main grass football pitch, ensuring it is maintained to professional standards for matches and events. Additionally, you will oversee the servicing and repair of machinery, as well as the ordering of equipment and supplies needed for the maintenance of pitches and external areas at Stirling Sports Village. Your responsibilities will include: • Pitch and Surface Maintenance – Aeration, brushing, divoting, seeding, overseeding, fertilising • Line Marking – following SFA guidelines and ensuring accuracy when measuring and marking out surfaces. • Grounds Maintenance – Ensuring all grass areas, hedges, swales, and rear fields are well-maintained and presented in line with Active Stirling’s brand standards. • Equipment & Supply Management – Coordinating the servicing and repair of machinery and ensuring the timely procurement of necessary equipment and materials. • Facilities Upkeep – Supporting the Maintenance and Estates Manager in delivering ongoing repairs and planned maintenance to uphold the quality and safety of all facilities. This role is essential in ensuring Stirling Sports Village remains a top-tier sports facility, providing athletes and visitors with a safe, well-maintained, and high-quality environment.
