The Manchester Centre for AI Fundamentals has positions open for Senior Lecturer and Lecturer levels in Machine Learning.
The University of Manchester is strategically investing in AI fundamentals to complement its strengths in AI applications, offering high-profile collaboration opportunities. The university is a key partner of the national Alan Turing Institute and hosts 33 Turing Fellows. The ambition is to establish a leading AI centre at the intersection of these opportunities.
Applications are encouraged in any area of the fundamentals of machine learning, particularly in:
1. Probabilistic modelling
2. Deep learning
3. Reinforcement learning
4. Causal modelling
5. Human-in-the-loop ML
6. Explainable AI
7. Ethics, privacy, and security
These positions aim to enhance machine learning methodologies and are not limited to applications, although applications of ML are highly valued. Candidates should be interested in contributing to the new centre and exploring collaboration opportunities in both methods and applications, as well as building international networks.
Located in the Department of Computer Science, you will join a large community of machine learning, data science, and AI researchers. The university prides itself on seamless collaboration across departments, schools, and faculties, with links to the Alan Turing Institute, ELLIS, the Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and the Christabel Pankhurst Institute for Health Technology.
