Originally founded in 1823, Seashell Trust is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The trust consists of the Royal School Manchester (RSM), Royal College Manchester (RCM), 17 residential care homes, outreach, health and family services all based on one campus site. We provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment, communication disorders and autism. We are recruiting a manual handling practitioner to support across the whole organisation. The Manual Handling Co-ordinator will promote the safe handling and represent the organisation in dealing with all manual handling situations, including legal situations. This position is part-time, working no more than 15 hours per week with no regular weekend and evening shifts. However, flexibility to work outside of normal hours as needed (e.g., training night staff) is required.
Main duties of the job
1. Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of manual handling policies, procedures, handling documentation and audit tools.
2. Support the use of evidence-based risk assessments for complex handling situations.
3. Identify and evaluate a range of handling equipment to meet the needs of the organisation.
4. Design, deliver and evaluate a range of training programmes for staff to meet the needs of the organisation.
5. Contribute to the design, interpretation and resulting action plans from audits and accident investigations.
6. Contribute to a positive health and safety culture within the Trust.

Person Specification
Experience
* Ideally, you will have worked as a health care professional (e.g., Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Nurse) specialising in manual handling.
* Significant hands-on experience of working with people with complex disabilities.
* Experience of contributing to risk assessments for children and young people with complex disabilities.
* Ability to deliver presentations and coaching.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Willingness to attend further training as required and join the National Back Exchange if not already registered.
Qualifications
* Professional membership registration (e.g., HCPC, NMC or equivalent), with relevant qualification at degree standard.
* Prior experience of complex manual handling situations, preferably having attended a further Train the Trainer course or equivalent qualification.

£14,445 to £16,050 a year. Part-time, 15 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
