Job title: Specifications Manager
Location: 80% Field based / 20% home based
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 5pm
Reporting to: Head of Commercial Sales
Job Purpose:
The role of Regional Specification Manager is to promote and specify our products and services to local authorities, housing associations, RSLs, contractors, national housebuilders, architects and developers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Gain specification with local authorities, housing associations, public bodies, contractors, architects, QS, hospital boards, schools, and the MOD.
2. Liaise with and gain national agreements with housebuilders and developers on specifications.
3. Oversee and manage major accounts.
4. Specify and obtain orders from the above types of organisations as new customers who are financially secure.
5. Work in conjunction with the Business Development Managers (BDMs) and their fabricators to ensure clear communication regarding potential contracts.
6. Prepare drawings for tender (site surveys for design).
7. Assist on local authority tenders, in conjunction with the fabricator, regarding pricing matrices and tenders for proposed jobs.
8. Promote PROFILE 22 to the highest level through seminars (CPD) for multi-functional bodies.
9. Liaise with the marketing department regarding before and after installation photos, leads, mail-shots, advertising, etc.
10. Plan the geographical area of responsibility methodically, maximising sales potential, especially within highly populated areas.
11. Ensure wherever possible that PROFILE 22 and SPECTUS systems are the only ones specified, gathering all necessary information on future project timescales and budgets.
12. Provide specifiers with an all-in package, visiting sites, surveying, advising on potential problems, alternative design criteria, writing specifications where required and providing constant backup on site as well as fabricator visits.
13. Liaise with the technical department in Telford for CAD drawings, working within the current building regulations for specifications and recommendations.
14. Ensure that PROFILE 22 and SPECTUS systems fully comply with specifications described in tenders.
15. Assist fabricators with tenders and pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQ).
16. Attend local and national exhibitions and follow up leads.
Key Experiences & Skills Required:
1. Full clean driving licence.
2. Experience in specification is not required; training will be provided. We are looking for a candidate with prior experience within the window industry, either in sales, estimating, or design, who is keen to learn new skills.
3. Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint & CRM systems.
4. Commercial business awareness with the ability to clearly identify potential opportunities.
5. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
6. Understand the full lifecycle of where our product sits within the marketplace from conception to site.
7. Tenacious attitude with a desire to complete all tasks and maximise all opportunities as they arise.
8. Challenge current offerings to clients.
9. Excellent listening, negotiation, presentation, and both verbal and written skills.
