The Roles
You will develop and manage strategic relationships with key customers in order to support the retention and growth strategy in key sectors such as transport, health, and infrastructure.
You will manage projects and procurements that deliver effective commercial solutions for our customers.
You will apply your commercial expertise and deep category knowledge to influence strategic direction both with customers and within the energy category team.
Commercial Directorate overview
We are the largest team in CCS and have delivered value to the public sector by creating more than £3.5 billion in commercial benefits. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our fifteen teams across our 3 categories, all of which manages over £34bn of Public Sector spending.
Team Summary
The Energy Projects Team leads retention and growth initiatives across key priority sectors such as transport, health, and infrastructure. We play a critical role in aligning our work with the organisation's objectives by delivering effective strategies that address the energy needs of our customers.
We pride ourselves on building and nurturing strong relationships with our nominated customers, acting as trusted partners fully committed to understanding and meeting their evolving energy requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Manage the retention and growth initiatives in priority sectors, including transport, health, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with key nominated customers, serving as a trusted partner to meet their energy needs.
3. Utilise a deep understanding of priority sectors and customer requirements to identify new commercial opportunities and bring forward innovative solutions.
4. Manage the successful delivery of identified projects and procurements, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations.
5. Apply commercial expertise and in-depth category knowledge to shape the strategic direction with customers and within the energy category team.
6. Actively contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the energy category, taking a proactive role as a manager in the team.
7. Play a key role in the broader category team, fostering an inclusive environment, demonstrating the CCS values of listen, collaborate, trust and respect, and contributing to the overall team’s successful operation.
Essential Criteria (to be assessed on application):
1. Strong commercial acumen with a track record of influencing strategic direction and contributing to category development.
2. Proven ability to develop and manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders and customers, including influencing and negotiation skills.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the energy sector and the specific requirements of priority sectors, with the ability to translate this knowledge into practical commercial solutions.
4. Experience in successfully managing the delivery of projects and procurement activities, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a broader team, contributing to a positive, inclusive culture and supporting the team’s success.
