Description Are you an experienced Overhead Lines (OHL) project manager seeking a new challenge? Join us at the forefront of delivering critical electrical infrastructure. Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd (UK) are currently recruiting for an existing OHL Project Manager to join our ever-growing business. You will ideally be from a transmission and distribution, construction or rail background with experience in tendering and delivering large 132/275/400kV OHL projects as you will be initially supporting our client NGED with projects in the Midlands. You will play a vital role in a diverse portfolio of projects at various stages of the project life cycle. You will have substantial experience of development and delivery of million-pound projects to deliver safely, on-time and within budget. Experience of working on NGED or other similar transmission and distribution network operators is required. This opportunity is a site-based position, we have works issued under various OHL frameworks which mean the position is UK wide. We envisage you will be working in the West and East Midlands to begin with; however thereafter you will need to be flexible in your work location as you will be away from home for periods of time and will travel and work across England and Wales. You will be expected to visit site walks for tenders when required, and work from home and your nearest Wood office to suit business needs. Reporting to the Senior OHL Project Manager, you will oversee project management and delivery, ensuring safety, financial compliance, and timeliness. Your role will involve upholding high standards in project execution, aligning with both T&D and client objectives. You will possess a strong history of leading project teams on OHL projects through all phases of design, construction, commission and close out. Essential skills include programme / project management, planning and expertise in managing the design requirements and commercial budgets for OHL projects. Familiarity with client/ distribution network operator (DNO) technical standards and policies is a must. Responsibilities What You Will Do: Assisting in the preparation of win plans for strategic bids and tenders. Responsible for the successful delivery of all stages of an assigned projects to meet the key program milestones. Providing support and preparation for the mobilisation of new projects. Accountable for the approval of the scope of works, the plan and estimate for each element of the project. Accountable for team consistency in the preparation and presentation of project controls to be deployed on the project, including but not limited to; PMP, QA/QC, and CPP. Plan, project program, risk & change management, EVM analysis, internal budget control and cash flow throughout. Prioritising the assignment of project resources and resolving conflicting requirements to actively seeking to improve and optimise project delivery. Ensuring that project delivery teams adopt performance management ethos and practice. Achieving a consistent high standard of project programming and producing monthly reports. Ensuring the successful resolution of issues and challenges on individual projects as required. Providing guidance and leadership and when necessary, acting in the role of trouble-shooter. Demonstrating effective individual and collective SHE leadership and promote enthusiastic SHE culture. Managing Safety through early development incorporating life cycle designs that minimise risk to personnel. Driving the “Safety by Design” philosophy through the project delivery process. Working within established Company policies and procedures to address breaches of the SHE policies or management systems where necessary. Ensuring that any lessons learned, and innovation are applied internally within the Wood T&D business. Enforcing standards of quality and professionalism for each stage of the project cycle. Monitoring compliance with, and the monitoring of NEC Contract terms and conditions, scope of work and variations log with sub-contractors. Managing the Programme of Works, Quality Plan and Project Risk Register. Recognised SHE qualification such as IOSH, NEBOSH. Project management qualification. Strong Commercial and Contractual awareness. Ability to lead and build project teams. Ability to proactively resolve any site issues. Be able to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Experience of working with NGED and other Distribution Network Operators. Experience of leading and managing project teams on OHL projects through all phases of design, construction, commission and close out, including Programme /Project management / Planning skills. Good knowledge of Local Authority permit requirements. Experience of managing the design requirements for OHL projects inclusive of commercial budgets. Experience of developing and managing good working relationships with client and sub-contractors. Understanding of Engineering Principals and knowledge and understanding of and belief in the principles of CDM. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good knowledge of NEC Forms of Contract. Knowledge and working understanding of OHL Installation Techniques. Knowledge of street works, permit submission and council liaison. Financial and commercial understanding. Understanding of client technical standards, policies, procedures, and safety rules. Hold a full UK driving licence. Produce a negative result for the compulsory Drugs and Alcohol test.
