The Combined Packaging Regime is looking for enthusiastic and proactive individuals to deliver regulatory and environmental outcomes.
The role involves working on the Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations for Packaging Producers.
As a department we are responsible for analysing large data sets, required under the regulations to ensure compliance under these regulations by Producers. This includes desktop monitoring, audits and taking appropriate action to bring producers into compliance.
As a Regulatory Officer, you will undertake this work, under the direction and guidance of a Senior Technical Officer. Querying and rectifying anomalies as well as identifying non compliant producers. Excellent data and information management skills are essential.
In addition, you will:
• Co-ordinate and deliver processes, providing support, coaching and guidance to colleagues ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.
• Communicate regularly with internal and external customers and answer technical queries
• Collate, analyse and use complex data to help make evidence-based decisions on regulatory compliance.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You may be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
The team
The Combined Packaging Regime is a supportive and inclusive department that encourages teams’ health, safety, wellbeing and development. We aim to contribute to the circular economy by providing clear, consistent and effective regulation to reduce packaging waste. We help to protect and improve the environment by regulating industry, ensuring compliance, and eliminating illegal activities.
The wider Waste Regime Operational Services regulate key areas including Packaging, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries and International Waste Shipments.
Experience/skills required
We need individuals able to demonstrate:
•Ability to coordinate the collection, assessment, and analysis of large complex data sets to ensure accuracy, reporting and saving the data in line with internal guidance
•Ability to work with a variety of colleagues to solve complex issues and deliver outcomes
•A great communicator able to present facts verbally and in writing with excellent time management and data management
• Ability to deliver training and coaching.
•Organisation and planning skills to deliver multiple work activities with varying deadlines.
•Experience in supporting and influencing others to deliver in a prioritised manner.
•Excellent customer service skills.
•Great team work to support colleagues achieve common goals
•Experience of working with customers and colleagues to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements is desirable but not essential.
•Experience of working within Waste Regulation is desirable, but not essential.
•Experience of working with Microsoft packages is essential (Word, Excel and Teams).
