Role: This is a role for a hard working & committed 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding primary school in Salford, starting ASAP in February 2025. This full-time position involves supporting a pupil, on a 1:1 basis, in Year 4 with Social & Emotional needs (SEMH). What you'll do: Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs who has good aptitude levels but as a result of his vulnerable background, he struggles to focus in class and can sometimes be disruptive during the day. You will need to build a relationship with him quickly, understand his needs, triggers and interests. It requires someone who is resilient, patient and empathetic and able to persevere over the long term to improve his learning situation. Support your colleagues in the group and wider school. Aid the implementation of of educational activities and lessons. Contribute to a safe, positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment. Ideal candidate: Previous experience working as a Primary Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Behaviour Support Assistant, Learning Mentor or Learning Support Assistant would be ideal. Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills are essential. You will need to look out for triggers and implement prevention and de-escalation strategies in order to allow the young person to engage effectively in lessons. An adaptable, flexible and proactive approach is required. You must bring a positive attitude & a genuine desire to support this pupil and the rest of the class in their academic, social, emotional and physical development.
