Job overview
We are looking for a confident CAMHS professional with a demonstrable track record within CAMHS, of providing good quality evidence-based interventions and improving service quality.
You will be a Mental Health Nurse, Systemic Family Psychotherapist, Psychologist, Art Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Child Psychotherapist, CBT Therapist, Counsellor, or Occupational Therapist with the requisite professional registration/accreditation or awaiting accreditation. The community served is multi-ethnic and culturally diverse, and we welcome applicants who are skilled at working with the richness and complexity of this multicultural context.
You would be joining a comprehensive and dynamic CAMH service, within one of our MHSTs, located in Central Bedfordshire, delivering a substantial stepped model of care following the needs-led i-Thrive framework.
Your role will help to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects, and system changes with the aim of supporting young people's mental health in schools and the community. In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management, and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, the post-holder will also clinically supervise colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England, and partners, aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community.
There is a specific focus on developing greater access to emotional support within all primary and secondary schools, including special educational provisions and PRUs. Working alongside community partners, the Mental Health Support Teams will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Person specification
Education/ Qualification/ Training
* A qualification of Mental Health Nurse, Systemic Family Psychotherapist, Psychologist, Art Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Child Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist, CBT Therapist, or Accredited Counsellor (awaiting accreditation).
* Understanding of current NHS/Social Care policies/practices relating to Mental Health and Services and the Child Protection Policy.
* Previous experience of working in CAMHS.
* Experience of working with a wide range of mental health problems commonly seen in CAMHS.
* Experience of care planning.
* Knowledge and experience of working within a CBT framework to support trainee practitioners.
* Experience of supervising more junior colleagues.
* Specialist clinical skills within specific therapeutic modalities.
* Teaching skills, both in clinical settings and education centres.
* Able to work effectively across organisational boundaries.
* Evidence of well-developed clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS.
* Awareness of current national guidelines and policies in the field of CAMHS.
* Specific knowledge of pertinent issues for CAMHS.
* In-depth knowledge of CAMHS issues including assessment and interventions.
* Parenting qualification and parenting supervision qualification.
* Specific therapeutic modality training and qualification (e.g. CBT, DBT, IPT) and accreditation with BABCP, etc.
* Delivery of parenting programmes.
