The Corinium Museum holds large and internationally significant collections of archaeology, social and rural history, as well as running the Visitor Information Centre. The collections range from prehistory through to the 19th century, covering key curriculum subjects.
We are looking for a Visitor Operations Manager to join our friendly and professional team!
The Visitor Operations Manager will be required to deliver excellent customer service through the welcome desk and gallery volunteers. You will manage the day-to-day operations of the Museum and Visitor Information Centre, ensuring an excellent visitor experience in a clean and safe environment.
You will have the exciting responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the museum, including health & safety, maintenance, coordinating external contractors, and locking up the building in the evening. You will also manage the financial administration relating to the Museum's payroll and the Front of House operations, including invoicing, sales, till systems, and ensuring all systems and procedures are followed.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Working one evening a month is a requirement as part of a staffing rota, and occasional weekend working may be required.
Minimum Requirements
* Two years of experience in a similar related role
* Experience of managing and motivating staff
* Knowledge or background in operations and/or visitor services
* Knowledge and expertise in appropriate IT Systems - MS Office
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* High level of numeracy and good general commercial knowledge of financial systems and budgets
* Leadership qualities and skills which challenge and support staff and volunteers in order to maximise team potential
* Ability to work under pressure to meet objectives and to work to deadlines
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* High level of judgement, tact, discretion and initiative
* Able to work creatively and flexibly in a small team, supporting other colleagues
* Ability to record and deal with data accurately and effectively
Desirable
* Degree or other equivalent relevant qualification
* Experience of managing staff rotas and payroll processes
* Experience of financial procedures and transactions
* Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting museums and visitor standards
* Experience of recruiting and training volunteers
* Understanding health and safety legislation
* Able to write award applications
