Job summary Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our successful Theatres team. The post holder will provide high quality care to patients under the supervision of a registered practitioner. They will provide individualised patient care maintaining patient privacy and dignity at all times whilst also respecting any cultural beliefs of the patient. They will carry out a wide range of theatre duties and work across all hospital/campus sites meeting the demands of the service. Main duties of the job Provide care to patients acknowledging their rights, beliefs and choices. Provide support to patients in a caring, sensitive and compassionate manner in all theatre areas. Ensure patient safety by receiving and checking patients for surgery. Transfer patients to and from the theatre department to support the efficient use of theatre time. Assist in the moving and positioning of patients for surgery. Assist in preparing and maintaining the theatre environment. Clean theatre, equipment & transfer devices as per infection control guidelines and complete theatre cleaning schedules. Maintain and control stock, equipment and materials under supervision. Provide and monitor items that are used during surgery. Assist in receiving, handling and dispatching specimens. Ensure all theatre waste is disposed of as per trust policy.
