Job Description:
NRL’s engineering client is looking to recruit a Senior Instrument Designer based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. The role involves supporting local projects through Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services.
About the role:
* This role requires a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.
* The Senior Instrument Designer should have a technical engineering design background. Projects include:
* Extensive flow and pressure monitoring projects
* Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control
* Upgrade of process plant to DCS
Role Detail:
* Work closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager to support pharmaceutical projects.
* Review and assess customer needs.
* Provide resource estimates for design activities.
* Produce reports, scope of works, concept designs, and detailed designs (Typically RIBA2-4).
* Support project delivery within time, quality, and budget constraints.
* Create documentation according to standards and quality requirements.
* Liaise with design and equipment subcontractors.
* Interface with Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil disciplines.
* Provide 2D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts, and cable/containment routing diagrams.
* Develop Cable Block Diagrams, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Honeywell BMS Interface Diagrams.
Requirements:
* Extensive experience in a relevant design role, especially in pharmaceutical sector projects.
* HNC or Degree in technical engineering or related field.
* Membership of a professional institution is desirable.
* Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is a plus.
* Knowledge of E&I design best practices.
* Desirable: Compex 12 Qualification, Experience with ATEX Hazardous Area design, Functional Safety IEC61508/IEC61511, Project lifecycle experience, Data management practices, CDM Regulations 2015, Site surveys, Collaboration skills, Communication skills.
* Proficient in AutoCAD LT and Microsoft Office suite.
