Job Title: Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker
Randstad Student Support is recruiting for a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker to work with autistic students studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Chester.
The role is hybrid, requiring both in-person and online sessions. Successful candidates must be able to travel to the local University or college and offer flexible scheduling to meet student preferences.
As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance, including creating individual learning plans tailored to students' needs and encouraging independence.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop strategies for students to develop independence
* Build on strengths and learning strategies
* Create organisation and time management strategies
* Establish action plans to stay on track with studies
* Enhance research skills by using a variety of sources
* Distinguish appropriate sources and correctly use references
* Improve comprehension skills within reading and writing
You will work closely with students to address their unique needs and concerns in a timely manner. Confidentiality and professionalism are essential aspects of this role.
Requirements:
This specialist role requires specific qualifications and training. Candidates must have an undergraduate degree (minimum level 6), a teaching qualification, and extensive training in adult autism.
Accepted training routes include:
* 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package)
* The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies
Desirable Skills:
* Experience working with autistic clients
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to identify ways to help students build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional relationship
* Punctuality and reliability
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to manage a caseload of students
