Randstad Student Support is now hiring specialist mentors to assist students with mental health needs in the Bristol area. Starting at the beginning of the 2024 academic year, this role offers the opportunity to support both new and returning students. Successful candidates must be able to travel to the local university or college, providing a mix of in-person and online sessions tailored to student preferences.
As a Specialist Mentor, you would be a trusted advisor for students. You will be required to assist students throughout the full academic year. You will help students to reflect on their experiences in study as well as introducing strategies to overcome certain barriers.

As a specialist mentor you will be required to do the following when working one to one with students:
15. Help them to achieve an appropriate balance activities of everyday living and academic related tasks
16. Improve organisational skills such as time management
17. Assist students in preparing for their deadlines by breaking down tasks into smaller parts for them
18. Help to manage anxiety and cope with anxiety and stress caused by study related issues and/or everyday living.
19. Help students with reflecting on their own experiences
20. Improve students confidence by building on their existing strengths
21. Assist in preparing students for new experiences which they may be nervous going into
22. Work closely with Randstad ensure any concerns with students are communicated as soon as possible
23. Behave in a professional and confidential manner
Requirements:
As this is a specialist role, you must hold membership with one of the below professional bodies. All students you will be supporting are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) meaning all candidates providing this role must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.
