Job overview
The Children and Young People’s Service provides an integrated service for children with persistent, moderate to severe mental health concerns, who have received targeted intervention from other services and have shown little or no improvement.
We deliver a wide range of evidence-based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. Development opportunities can be accessed via our comprehensive internal training programme. We have a robust supervision structure for staff, alongside peer support.
Our Mental Health pathway undertakes assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex mental health needs, including anxiety, low mood, self-harm, and trauma. Clinicians will work within a collaboratively care planned approach, should be able to work autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team.
We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with children and young people, who can work collaboratively with partner agencies.
The team operates across the hours of 8.00 to 8.00 Monday to Friday, and Saturdays 9-5.
Main duties of the job
* Carrying a complex caseload of young people requiring evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
* Provide training and clinical supervision/support to the wider team.
* Attendance at multi-agency meetings and risk management group.
* Support with transition work and audits as appropriate, linking in with parents, carers, and other partners.

Skills
* Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
* Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
* Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence-based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills (self & others).
* Ability to adapt within a changing environment.
* Ability to work under pressure.
Qualifications
* Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist.
* Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/psychological interventions/skills relevant to the post.
* Proven track record of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
* Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
* Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
Knowledge and Experience
* 12 to 24 months band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
* Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
