We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for an organised and methodical Billing Administrator to join our small and collaborative team based in Bournemouth. This is a full-time permanent position, offering a competitive starting salary of £24,090 per annum, plus a range of excellent company benefits + rewards. In the development of this role, you will be supported with a levels 1 to 3 Progression Scheme, where you can earn up to £26,678 per annum.
About the role
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our customers are billed accurately and on schedule, supporting smooth and efficient operations. You’ll be responsible for managing the monthly billing cycle, handling administrative tasks related to billing systems, and coordinating with various internal processes.
While this role involves working closely with data, it’s more about following precise procedures than working within a finance-driven function. Basic IT skills and the ability to stay organised in a structured, office-based environment will be essential to your success in this role. What you’ll be doing:
1. Plan and prepare all elements of the billing process to ensure customer bills are delivered accurately to ensure an excellent customer experience and smooth income patterns for the business.
2. Work closely with the immediate and wider team, ensuring work requests are up to date and information is passed to other departments to enable them to contribute effectively.
3. Ensure data required to operate the billing processes is available in the appropriate format, the right quality, and is sufficiently comprehensive to deliver a “right first time” billing operation and reporting requirement.
4. Regularly interrogate data systems for updated information and raise work requests for relevant wholesalers.
5. Maintain security and confidentiality of the data contained within the company systems at all times in order to protect our customers' privacy and our reputation as a trusted supplier.
6. Undertake reporting activity for the billing process to enable informed decisions and actions to be taken.
7. Provide 2nd line support for all billing activity.
8. Co-ordinate the direct debit process.
9. Liaise with meter reader contracted services for all billing aspect requirements and changes to ensure routes are billed on time.
10. Contribute to the risk management process by providing qualitative performance feedback on the meter reading contract supplier performance when required to improve service.
11. Seek opportunities for improving service excellence and the customer experience through our billing processes, where appropriate take steps to improve, to help the company achieve its targets.
What we are looking for:
1. Educated to GCSE level with grades A-C (or equivalent).
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
3. Ability to work effectively within a team.
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Basic IT skills to support daily administrative tasks.
6. Proven experience in billing and customer interaction.
7. Customer awareness, including an understanding of geographic considerations.
8. Experience in retail or commercial sales.
9. Familiarity with billing processes.
10. Understanding of supplier contracts and service level agreements.
