The Post:
As a major Strategic Business Unit within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
Two posts have become available for either a suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists or individuals who are educated to degree / equivalent level with a qualification accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) which would allow registration through the trainee BMS route.

This post is within the SNBTS Manufacturing facility, specifically the Donor Testing department. Experience of working in a transfusion/pathology laboratory environment would be advantageous but is not essential. This position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for suitably experienced, qualified and motivated Healthcare professionals.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the team of Biomedical Scientists and Biomedical Support Workers working within the Manufacturing Department. The Manufacturing Department provides an essential service towards the provision of healthcare in Scotland. The department is responsible for manufacturing and testing of specialised blood components from both whole blood and apheresis collections and has a vital role in the supply of high quality blood components to other SNBTS sites and hospitals throughout Scotland.
The post holders will be a member of a team working within the Donor Testing department. As part of that team, they will work to ensure that service delivery is carried out in a timely and efficient manner and to the highest of quality standards necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
