An ambitious secondary school in Portsmouth, most recently graded Good by Ofsted, is seeking a fully qualified Art & Design Teacher (with elements of Design & Technology) to join their dedicated and dynamic team from September 2025.

Teaching Personnel are working in close partnership with the school to identify an outstanding candidate who can bring energy, vision and subject expertise to this key role.
The Role
The appointed teacher will play a vital role within the school’s Art and Technology Faculty, delivering a high-quality and engaging curriculum to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2025.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering inspiring lessons in Art & Design, incorporating aspects of Design & Technology where appropriate
Assessing student progress effectively and providing high-quality feedback that supports learning
Supporting students in developing technical skills, critical thinking and creative confidence
Taking responsibility for a tutor group, contributing to the personal development and wellbeing of students
Playing an active role in the school’s House system, helping to build a sense of belonging, pride and community
Working collaboratively with the Curriculum Leader to support the ongoing development of the department
Contributing to enrichment activities, exhibitions and whole-school creative events
Ensuring that all students, regardless of starting point, make expected or better progress over time
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
Is a fully qualified teacher of Art & Design, with QTS or equivalent
Has experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4
Brings a genuine passion for creativity and the arts within education
Has a sound understanding of curriculum development and assessment in Art & Design (with experience in Design & Technology being highly desirable)
Can confidently manage a classroom and create an environment where all students feel safe to take creative risks
Is committed to pastoral care and understands the importance of tutor responsibilities and wider school engagement
Demonstrates reflective practice and a willingness to work as part of a supportive, collaborative team
