Part-Time HR and Health and Safety Coordinator
Salary: GBP26-30k FTE
Hours: 16 to 24 hrs per week. Can be split over 5 days or 2-3 days
Location: Chittering, Cambridge

We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate to join our client's growing office team based in Chittering, Cambridge.
The successful candidate will assume the role of Part-Time Human Resources and Health & Safety Coordinator supporting the senior management team. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the company-wide Health and Safety Procedures in addition to playing a key role in supporting the smooth running of HR operations.

Key Responsibilities (Office Assistant):
1. Answering phone calls, directing calls to appropriate personnel, taking messages, greeting visitors and directing them to the correct location.
2. Scheduling and minuting meetings.
3. Preparing and distributing internal and external letters and emails.
Key Responsibilities (HR Assistant):
1. Maintaining accurate employee files, updating personal information and managing employee data in HR systems.
2. Supporting Management with adherence to labour laws, updating employee handbooks, and maintaining necessary compliance documentation.
3. Supporting Management with new employee onboarding including conducting orientation sessions, setting up employee accounts, and ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
4. Answering employee questions regarding benefits plans, assisting with enrolment processes.
5. Addressing employee concerns, facilitating communication between employees and management.
Key Responsibilities (H&S Assistant):
1. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date safety records, including incident reports, near miss reports, accident investigation reports, and safety inspection findings.
2. Conducting routine safety inspections of facilities and equipment, identifying potential hazards, documenting findings and reporting issues to relevant personnel.
3. Assisting in conducting risk assessments and identifying control measures to mitigate hazards.
4. Coordinating and supporting safety training programs for employees, including new employee inductions and refresher courses.
5. Assisting in investigating workplace incidents, gathering information, and documenting findings to prevent future occurrences.
6. Implementing and managing Health and Safety procedures.
7. Communicating safety policies and procedures to employees through various channels, including posters, emails, and meetings.
8. Supporting Management with ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and company safety policies.
9. Maintaining safety documentation, updating safety manuals, filing safety reports, and managing safety equipment inventory.
10. Supporting audits and addressing health and safety inquiries from external enforcement agencies.
Knowledge/Understanding:
1. Knowledge/understanding of employment laws and regulations.
2. Understanding of relevant workplace safety regulations and standards.
Required Skills:
1. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
2. Strong organizational and time management abilities.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
4. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
5. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
6. Professional demeanour and ability to maintain confidentiality.
7. The ability to work confidentially and independently.
8. Pro-active and able to take initiative.
