Description This role sits within the Change and Planning directorate which was established in 2024. The Directorate works in partnership with stakeholders across the bank to deliver the bank’s strategic priorities through effective strategic planning and prioritisation, portfolio planning and assurance, and the successful delivery of change initiatives. This is an exciting area of the Bank which you, alongside other members of the management team, will play a key role in shaping; your role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the of the Change and Planning directorate. Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager – Strategy and Planning to join our new strategic planning team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic initiatives and business plans that drive the Bank's growth and success and support the Bank in optimal use of resources and evidencing value for money. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach, strong analytical skills and a passion for problem-solving, alongside the ability to think critically and creatively about business challenges. You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities and informing and supporting strategic decision-making at all levels of the organisation. You will be accountable for a range of activities including: Strategic Planning & Analysis: Develop, execute, and support others – including Governors, EDs, COOs and business partners - in the development, and continuous improvement, of the Bank’s strategic priorities and delivery against them with optimal use of resources. This will include leading on the Bank’s annual business planning and cyclical development (generally 3 yearly) of strategic priorities Leadership and Management: you will be part of the senior team in Strategic Planning, building a high-performing team which operates in a supportive and collaborative manner Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Directorates to align business goals and ensure seamless execution of strategic projects. Design & implement strategic frameworks: Work with others to develop and embed strategic frameworks to support the Bank's prioritisation and strategy development. Strategic Recommendations: Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership based on research findings, performance analysis, and market trends. Comms and engagement: Delivering proactive strategic communications, ensuring Bank staff are engaged. Change and Planning Communications : Ensuring the directorate is proactively engaged in specific change and planning and wider bank initiatives. Stakeholder management and engagement : Working closely with key stakeholders such as C&P SLT, Finance, Communications, and Risk, to ensure a joined up and holistic approach Number of direct reports: (minimum 2) Role Requirements: Minimum Criteria Demonstrable extensive experience at a senior level in cross-organisational strategy, strategic planning and business planning analysis, or a related role Ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a fast-paced environment Strong leadership and staff management skills, having previously run a team going through change, in an organisation going through change Experience managing complex projects or programmes of work with a diverse range of stakeholders Strong analytical and quantitative skills Keen ability to join the dots from across different fora and distil into coherent and simple propositions Exceptional influencing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders Highly resilient and comfortable working with change and ambiguity Desirable Criteria Experience working in strategic consulting, in-house strategy teams or in a fast-growing, dynamic company. Understanding of the key organisational constraints and challenges impacting central banks and similar organisations Knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive intelligence. This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: Leeds circa £76,240 - £85,000 London circa £84,720 - £95,000 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
