A Senior Project Engineer (Civils) within Transmission Network Operations takes ownership and accountability for delivery of the Civil programme for works associated with Refurbishment, Repairs Investment and Maintenance activities of the Civil infrastructure - projected annual budget over £2Million, including Capex & Opex. The postholder will work closely with Transmission Operational Planning and Operational Control Planning businesses to ensure optimum network security and integrity and effective long term network planning. They continuously maximise productivity through monitoring of work processes and output, identify personal resource requirements and feedback into the resource capacity planning and manage the contract of Civil framework contractors. They effectively design and deliver agreed outputs, and ensure all projects are managed in accordance with CDM compliance and that effective project management standards are implemented at all levels. The Senior Project Engineer will proactively manage the priorities of the team regarding network risks, in association with Asset Manager, and delegate responsibilities and accountabilities relating to cost and efficiency and safety of the Civil Programme. Furthermore, a Senior Project Engineer supports in the development and education of trainees through mentoring and coaching and continuously develops their own knowledge and experience in all areas of business procedures, operational skills and new technologies. What you’ll be doing As a Senior Project Engineer, you will: Focus on continuous improvement through quality processes. Identify solutions to problems and the areas where performance is not on target. Lead in the management of interfaces with external partners and contractors to deliver value in an efficient, safe and a cost effective manner. Respond appropriately to Customer Complaints, taking ownership and resolving as appropriate. Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of the operation and actively promote customer service standards within area of responsibility. Proactively and effectively manage the delivery of required units within agreed budget targets and timescales. Deliver business improvement initiatives. Construct programmes of work associated with engineering and delivery requirements. Project management and financial control of capital projects Liaise with operational support for planned work ensuring correct resources are in place along with appropriate Method Statements and Risk Assessments. Effectively Project Plan to ensure efficient delivery of Capital Programmes. Ensure accurate records are maintained for all project works and that company records are updated on completion. Effectively track and provide monthly updates (Scorecard Reporting) on work delivery. Comply with OFGEM and internal levels of service. Manage the development of assigned staff and trainees through performance management frameworks and on-job coaching & mentoring. What you’ll bring Enhanced knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices. Enhanced knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation. Awareness of network development policies and procedures. Customer service skills. Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems. General awareness of commercial & regulatory requirements. Negotiation, communication, and people management skills. Ability to devise solutions to problems/challenges. Experience in planning and managing a budget. Experience in contract management. To be successful, as a minimum you will: HNC in Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent. Relevant experience in a role within a utility business/ postgraduate with appropriate engineering knowledge. Computer literacy –e.g. Microsoft Office suite, SAP.
