Job Summary
The post holder will perform routine Respiratory and Sleep Diagnostics, complying with departmental standard operating procedures at all times during the course of their duties. Responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking a range of routine Lung Function tests independently.
2. Performing Sleep Apnoea Diagnostics.
3. Assisting senior staff in the Sleep Apnoea Therapy service.
4. Performing calibration and quality control procedures on all laboratory equipment.
5. Assisting senior staff in the training of junior staff, students, nurses, and medical students.
6. Working towards the ARTP Associate Professional Examination.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Carry out all duties and tasks in a manner which ensures patient comfort and safety, whilst maintaining accuracy.
2. Demonstrate a good level of knowledge underpinning each of the basic tests in the department.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
* Two A 'Levels at Grade D or above (one of which must be a Science) plus additional theoretical or applied training in specific discipline to diploma equivalent level.
* Relevant Healthcare Science Foundation Degree / Applied Science HND / HNC / GNVQ Advanced in Science.
* Relevant Respiratory Physiologist Experience.
Desirable:
* ARTP Part 1.
* ARTP Part 2.
* ARTP Certificate in Spirometry.
Essential Aptitude and Abilities:
* Can demonstrate SBU values.
* Performs a range of basic lung function tests.
* Laboratory maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures.
* Seeks out further development and responsibilities.
* Good patient communication skills, understanding, courteous, pleasant disposition.
* Motivated and enthusiastic; an excellent team player.
* Ability to put own point of view over but also able to listen to others.
Desirable:
* Welsh Language Skills at levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
* Ability to interpret basic lung function tests.
* Ability to travel within geographical area.
* Able to work hours flexibly.
