Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in fabrication and sheet metal design. The ideal candidate will be proficient in producing 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, as well as have knowledge of BSEN1090 standards. You will be responsible for designing components and assemblies for manufacturing, while ensuring adherence to design standards and delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
2. Utilize knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and welding processes to create designs optimized for manufacturing.
3. Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, including BSEN1090 for structural steelwork.
4. Collaborate with the fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective.
5. Work under tight deadlines to complete design projects in a timely and efficient manner.
6. Contribute to the design of stairs, ladders, and other access systems (beneficial but not essential).
7. Produce design documentation, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications for production.
8. Provide technical support to the production and quality teams during the fabrication process.
9. Ensure designs are fully compliant with relevant safety standards and regulations.
10. Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet project milestones.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering with a focus on sheet metal and fabrication.
2. Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling and 2D drawings).
3. Experience with AutoCAD for supporting 2D design tasks.
4. In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, including welding, laser cutting, and bending.
5. Familiarity with BSEN1090 and other relevant design standards for structural components.
6. Strong time management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
7. Ability to produce designs with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
8. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
9. Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of design standards for stairs, ladders, and access systems is beneficial but not essential.
2. Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
3. Experience with additional CAD software or other engineering design tools.

What We Offer:
1. Salary range of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum DOE.
2. 28 days of holidays, including bank holidays, plus Christmas break.

4. 38.5 working hours: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Monday to Thursday) & 7:30am - 12:00pm (Friday), 30 min lunch break & 2 x 15min tea break.
