Are you passionate about swimming and inspiring young people to develop their skills in the water? Do you have the drive to create an engaging and safe environment for children to thrive? We are looking for a dedicated Swimming Coach to join our team, and lead our swimming programmes for primary-aged pupils across our Trust and the local community.
Oldway Primary School is part of the Riviera Education Trust which is a multi-academy trust consisting of three local primary schools. We work in collaboration with Roselands Primary School and Shiphay Learning Academy to benefit all of the children in the Trust. Working in partnership with other schools helps to strengthen our provision and provide educational excellence so that every pupil has the best possible learning experience and is prepared for future life.
As part of our proposition we are proud to offer one of the finest school swimming pools in the area. Our 14m x 5m heated pool is well maintained and fully equipped to ensure a comfortable and inviting environment. It provides an ideal space for students to build their water confidence and develop their swimming skills in a calm, welcoming setting.
We are looking to appoint a swimming coach who can:
1. Deliver a pre-designed swimming curriculum as created by Swim England, adapting your teaching style to the needs of all participants
2. Support Pupils: Help students of varying abilities to develop water confidence and improve their swimming techniques
3. Collaborate: Work with our teaching staff and swimming assistant to support and monitor pupil progress
4. Pool Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of the swimming pool, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment
The successful applicant will:
5. be an experienced swimming coach, with a knowledge of working with pupils with special educational needs
6. have the ability to motivate/challenge pupils across the primary age range
7. be confident in having responsibility for/leading groups sessions, with differing abilities
8. have high expectations of themselves and the children they work with
9. be flexible in their approaches to meeting the needs of different learners
10. are reflective and committed to developing their own practice
11. have the sense of humour and sense of fun that are essential in working successfully in a busy, ever-changing environment
Essential Criteria for the post:
12. Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching swimming lessons
13. ASA/Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification
14. National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or RLSS UK National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)
Desirable Qualifications:
15. Level 3 First aid qualification
16. Pool Plant Operator Certificate

The starting salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate's current skills and experience, and it may align with either Grade F or Grade G within the NJC pay scales, therefore the starting salary for this position will be £13,820 or £15,309 per annum (£26,421 / £29,269 FTE).
Hours of work: - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (30 minute - Thursday
