We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Cook to join our Glentress team on a full-time basis, working 40 hours per week. In return, we will offer you an hourly pay rate of £11.44 per hour (increasing to £12 per hour if monthly targets are met), a place to develop your skills, and the chance to work in some of the UK’s most stunning forest environments.
Our Junior Cook:
Open all year round, as a Junior Cook you will play a pivotal role in our Forest Retreat building, the hub of the location. This is our reception, the first port of call for guests checking in on their holiday. It houses a shop, bar, and restaurant. Opening hours are location and season dependent but there are no late openings which allows for a better work/life balance. We are looking for someone with previous experience cooking in the kitchen at any level.
Your Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook delicious meals, ensuring top-quality food and presentation.
* Follow the cleaning rota to ensure the regular cleaning of all kitchen areas, equipment, and appliances to meet the required high standards of cleanliness.
* Clean and sterilise countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills, and sinks.
* Maintain the food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators.
* Wash dirty dishes like cutlery, pots, cutting boards, and pans or load dishes into the dishwasher.
* Understand and encourage the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation is to the highest standards of hygiene.
As our Junior Cook, we can offer you:
* Monthly 5% bonus (paid quarterly) if the location achieves customer service targets.
* Save on cabin breaks - pre-book a break with up to 20% off or travel last minute for just £75 a cabin. You also get a friends and family discount giving them 15% off all breaks.
Our ideal Junior Cook:
Passionate about the little details - you’re the kind of person who has a passion for cooking. You have the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and a professional rapport. You are an excellent communicator and are keen to learn from those around you. Due to our remote location, you cannot reach the main site by bus, so you must have reliable transport to and from your shifts.
Note:
* 16 – 17 year olds paid at £6.40 p/hr (increasing to £6.72 p/hr if targets met).
* 17 – 18 year olds paid at £8.60 p/hr (increasing to £9.03 p/hr if targets met).
