Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Preston. Working on a variety of public and private sector projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost planning and financial control throughout the construction lifecycle. This is a great opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive and professional team with a strong pipeline of work across the region.
Responsibilities will include:
Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender documentation for new projects
Conducting feasibility studies to assess project viability and budget alignment
Monitoring budgets, controlling expenditures, and reporting on cost performance
Advising on procurement strategy and managing subcontractor packages
Collaborating with the site team, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery within budget
Visiting sites to monitor progress and ensure financial and contractual compliance
Providing accurate reporting on project costs, forecasts, and cash flows
Maintaining robust records of financial transactions and project variations
Supporting the growth of the company through strong client relationships and commercial awareness
What you will need to succeed:
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry
Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contractual matters
Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office
Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen eye for detail
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
MRICS qualification is desirable but not essential
Ambition to grow within the business and contribute to its continued success
