Job Title: Deputy Manager/Early Years Practitioner
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience + workplace pension + other staff benefits
Annual Leave: 28 days
Main Purpose of Job:
1. You will work closely with the manager to ensure consistency & quality of service across the rooms and outside area.
2. You will have a strong understanding of the EYFS statutory requirements and be able to work alongside the nursery manager to motivate and train a team of practitioners to provide the highest quality care at all times.
3. You will work closely with the manager and deputise for her as and when required.
4. You will support the aims and objectives of the nursery and assist the manager to organise a high quality establishment for children from 3 months to 5 years.
5. You will work with the manager on implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and any other legal/statutory frameworks.
6. You will work with the Manager to achieve an Ofsted Outstanding rating.
Main Responsibilities are:
* To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met.
* To keep records of children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.
* To ensure that the welfare and safety of the children is paramount within the setting and any safeguarding concerns are acted upon immediately, following LSCB procedures.
* To work with the Manager to develop the ethos of the Shining Stars Nursery and Drop-In’s work with children under five and to create a welcoming and family friendly environment.
* To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
* To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
* To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
* To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
* To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
* To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.
* To support nursery assistants, students and volunteers.
* To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Qualifications and Experience required:
* Level 3 or higher qualification in childcare. Further qualifications are desirable, not essential as there is room to develop while at the setting.
* 1 year management experience is desirable.
* Strong Leadership skills.
